This lens was purchased as a more versatile replacement for my existing GF 45mm f/2.8, a lens that while producing beautiful images, was not a focal length I could use continuously on the GFX system. The chance to switch out came when I had a series of commercial shoots that would require a zoom lens that offered a variety of focal lengths. I took the time to compare the GF 32-64mm f/4 and the GF 45-100mm f/4. In the end, the need for longer focal lengths won out and I invested in this as my allrounder for the GFX system.
Aside from that one shoot, this has also been a really great lens for editorial photography where I’m on the move and creating a variety of images in a short time. Being able to get excellent image quality at any focal length and make use of f/4 to get shallow depth of field when required turns this lens into an extremely useful investment.
